The group was formed in 1986 in Toms River, New Jersey. Matt was Fallon (vocals), Dave "The Snake" Sabo, Scotti Hill (guitar), Rachel Bolan (bass) and Rob Affuso (drums). Later the group would join the singer Sebastian Bach, replacing Fallon. The band began playing clubs in the eastern United States. Aided by his friend Jon Bon Jovi, Sabo secured a contract to Skid Row with Atlantic Records label in 1988, then entered the studio with Michael Wagener (producer of Ozzy Osbourne, White Lion and Extreme fame, among others) to record their first album . Being Skid Row, released in January 1989, was an instant success. Produced the known singles "18 and Life", "I Remember You" and "Youth Gone Wild."
